Mindfulness Expressed
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, so many were left wondering: How do we move on? How do we overcome? These questions, and many more, would have been on the mind of so many. Yet the answer was simple: Hurricane Picnic.
Hurricane Picnic
A light found in the darkness
Joyfully endured
The people of New Orleans chose to carry on, as if nothing had happened. They chose to celebrate Mardi Gras just like they had every year. They didn’t let the challenges of life stand between them and what mattered most. It was a powerful message that opened my eyes to a better way of living. In truth, I believe that this quote says it all:
“I still say to this day that that was the greatest Mardi Gras ever because, number one, what it did for the spirit of the people of New Orleans and secondly that it sent a message that we can survive,” said Laborde. “Never did we need to have a Mardi Gras celebration as badly as 2006. It was a great moment in Carnival history.” Quote from (Eye on Carnival: 10 years since the pivotal post-Katrina Mardi Gras - My New Orleans)
Your life may be ravaged by storms, but I hope that you won’t forgo the chance to have a Hurricane Picnic.
