Return to Love

Freedom is in jeopardy

(or so it seems to me)

when the few are vilified,

and bullied by the “free”.

Once we stood with those abroad

(Defending what was right)

sheltering the innocent,

and joining in the fight.

Now all we have is ridicule

(and shared without a care)

for any who don’t fit the mold,

we leave them to despair.

Where is that Christian majesty

(embraced in years before)

within this land of immigrants,

where proudly eagles soar?

Can we claim to be the best

(while trampling the poor)

and ignore the suffering

on this, and distant shore?

I plead for those in misery

(and to the pure in heart).

Turn away from politics

before we tear apart.

Love thy neighbor as thyself,

(be kind to one and all)

Doing so will lift us up,

and steer us from the fall.
