Jericho: A word that rhymes with Irony

Joshua of Old,

that mighty man of truth.

Entrusted with a righteous cause,

emboldened from his youth.

He marched upon the enemy,

and courage was his call.

As he came to Jericho,

to face the final wall.

His circling, effectual.

His faith and hope alight.

As he marched triumphantly,

and bore down Heaven’s might.

I think about this often,

my twin in name alone.

As I look upon my life,

to reap the seeds I’ve sown.

The walls I face are fleeting,

yet hardly to the task.

I stand alone, retreating,

and don my favorite mask.

His circling, effectual,

and mine around the drain.

I wonder if he ever saw,

the Heaven’s full of rain.
